About Active Property Network

APN was set up by Troy and Bec Harris back in 2006, initially as a very small group of like-minded property investors who met once a month to share stories and information.

The group quickly grew in size and the meetings gradually took on more of a structure. By 2007 it became apparent that larger premises were needed and the group moved to its current location at New Hope Baptist Church.

About Troy and Bec

Troy & Bec bought their first property in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne in 2000. Whilst primarily bought for the purpose of a home, it was purchased with a view to capital growth, both organically and with the assistance of some renovations.

Around the same time Troy started playing cricket at a new club. Little did Troy know that this club would include one Dave Bradley as a member. Dave became a friend and mentor, initially as Troy commenced a retail business (which won a number of awards, including Australian Retailers Association -Retailer of the Year- in 2005).

Later that year, property began to take more of a full time interest as Troy and Bec put their business on the market. Troy and Bec signed up to the first "RESULTS" program via www.propertyinvesting.com.  Troy and Bec decided they would like to meet some others in the program and so they arranged to meet some people in a cafe one Sunday. This meeting of 5 led to 12 a few weeks later, followed by about 30 in the meeting room of Quest Mont Albert a month later. The meeting group (now APN) was born!!!!

Troy & Bec started investing in property through renovating properties in their local area.  After completing a couple of renovations, Troy and Bec realised that it was hard to find the next project while being entirely consumed by the current project.

So a change in strategy occurred and Troy and Bec set off to learn about Developments and a new area.

After a little while researching the new area & strategy, a number of developments are now in various stages of completion with most of the homes already sold off the plan. Developing is a far less -hands on- strategy than the renovations, which is just as well as many hours have now disappeared since the births of their two kids.

The -WHY- of this investing game is now very much apparent and although the balancing act of business/child sometimes tests them that they can spend virtually all their time together while taking on the world is priceless to them.
